Ebb & Flow T-shirt Company
summary
Ebb & Flow began as a high school project between my friend Henry and I. We were given a roughly two months to complete a project that would give us ‘real-world experience.’ While most of our classmates went to internships, Henry and I wanted to do something different. We wanted experience starting a company. Once we decided on that, most other pieces fell into place.
We quickly agreed on starting a graphic t-shirt company — I would focus on the art and website, and he would do the marketing and operations. We chose the name ‘Ebb & Flow’ simply because it sounded cool and unique to our high-school ears. Then, with a name and an business address (Henry’s basement), we were ready to get our business started.

After building the website using Squarespace, we marketed ourselves on Facebook and Twitter, and eventually sold a small amount of shirts. Ultimately though, neither of us had the time to maintain the company for longer than a couple months, and we ended up dissolving it.
Despite having to end it so soon, we both loved the experience, and learned a good deal about starting a company from the ground up. Check out some of the shirts we made below!
